Overview
The Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) Programme supports multi-year collaborations between industry, researchers and the community.
The government is interested in submissions from the community on one or more possible themes for priority funding future CRC selection rounds over the next two years.
Themes might include, but are not limited to, the National Science and Research Priorities, and industry growth sector priorities. We are also interested in hearing about other ideas for innovative, high-impact proposals outside of these areas. New proposals may look to solve industry problems or address broader issues that are of national benefit.
One or more of these priorities may be used in upcoming CRC and CRC Project selection rounds over the coming years.
Why we are consulting
Future selection rounds will seek innovative, high-impact proposals under one or more priorities and/ or themes. Your suggestions to the government ensures the programme is maximising benefit to all sectors of industry. We anticipate that suggestions for themes will be used for future selection rounds, and encourage participants to put forward a range of national priorities and themes.
What happens next
It is expected that the Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science, the Hon Greg Hunt MP, will announce the CRC priorites and themes in the first quarter of 2017, and that these will remain in place until the end of 2018.
We anticipate that stakeholders will be able to provide suggestions for themes that will align the programme closely with the government's agendas. Themes selected through this consultation are expected to be used to future selection rounds, for example, as one or more priorities per CRC and CRC-P rounds.
