Review of Space Industry Capability - Consultation

Privacy and storage of personal information

The Department of Industry, Innovation and Science (the Department) is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) outlined in Schedule 1 of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) which regulates how entities may collect, use, disclose and store personal information.

Personal Information obtained will be stored and held in accordance with the Department’s obligations under the Archives Act 1983 (Cth). Personal information obtained will only be used and disclosed for the purposes outlined below and to communicate with participants about their submission and the public consultation process. Otherwise, personal information will not be used or disclosed without your consent, except where authorised or required by law. Use of personal information

The personal information being collected through this public consultation process will be used to inform the Review of Space Industry Capability.

The Department will collect from this consultation your personal information, including your name, email, phone number and organisation, to inform the review and allow us to contact you regarding your response. 

Submissions and comments may be published together with the name of the individual or organisation who made the submission. No other personal information will be published. Registrations for round tables and updates will not be published. However, submissions, comments and responses including personal information, may be disclosed to departmental staff, contractors, service providers, staff of other Commonwealth government entities, Expert Reference Group members, the Assistant Minister, the Minister and staff members of ministerial offices relevant to the review. This will be for the purposes of informing discussion and analysis for the review.

Confidential information and defamation

Submissions and comments will not be published if:

  • marked ‘confidential’
  • we consider the submission may contain potentially defamatory statements or other offensive comments.

If we consider that your submission contains comments that may be offensive, the Department reserves the right to (but does not guarantee that it will) redact that part of your submission. However, it is the responsibility of the person making the submission to ensure that any confidential information is clearly identified and that it does not contain any defamatory content. The Department accepts no legal liability whatsoever for the publication of such content.
