What are Australia's greatest challenges that science could help to address? What opportunities should we seize? What strengths should we maintain and/or build?

Preventing avoidable chronic disease
Reducing inequalities in health
Improving integration and efficiency of healthcare
Allowing more care to be delivered when and where it is needed by consumers

Does Australia have the capability and capacity needed to address these challenges, opportunities and strengths? If not, how could we build this?

With increasing focus on translation of research, increased support of the relevant capabilities is required. In health we need greater focus on building and sustaining excellence in skills such as health services research, public health research, implementation science, dissemination science, health economics, and systems science
