Survey questions

What do you think are the two or three most significant recent developments in hydrogen?
Commercial scale ability to transport hydrogen in ammonia. The introduction of renewable hydrogen in a pilot plant in WA . The development of the use of hydrogen powered turbines for electricity production.
What are the most important safety issues to consider in producing, handling and using hydrogen in Australia?
That standards are developed, both for production, use, and distribution. I would also like to standards Australia release a standard for domestic yse of hydrogen, to enable the use of excess solar to produce hydrogen for domestic self consumption.
What environmental and community impacts should we examine?
The added burdon on existing water consumption. How byproducts of hydrogen generation is addressed and managed. Availability of hydrogen for community use.
How can Australia influence and accelerate the development of a global market for hydrogen?
By developing existing hydrogen technologies and infrastructure. By realizing a domestic and international market. Government grants to assist in developing technologies.
What are the top two or three factors required for a successful hydrogen export industry?
I thought no we should be focused on our domestic market in the first instance with export to follow, once domestic demands have been met.
What are the top two or three opportunities for the use of clean hydrogen in Australia?
Domestic self production and consumption for electricity production and fuelling of FHEV transport. Determining a new domestic gas market, using existing has infrastructure. Development of stand alone hydrogen productive for energy production in remote communities.
What are the main barriers to the use of hydrogen in Australia?
Lack of standards. Limited access to experts in feild. Limited training opportunities.
What are some examples where a strategic national approach could lower costs and shorten timelines for developing a clean hydrogen industry?
Development of hydrogen energy hubs in all states, to allow collaboration and development to take place.
What workforce skills will need to be developed to support a growing clean hydrogen industry?
Engineering training aimed purely at hydrogen technologies. Development of training packages for national / state tafe to enable a technical and maintenance workforce to be established in Australia.
What areas in hydrogen research, development and deployment need attention in Australia? Where are the gaps in our knowledge?
Small scale deployment for production and consumption. Research on applications of small scaleicro grid hydrogen technologies. Development of an energy and automotive industry as a consumer of hydrogen.
Do you have any other comments or submissions to this process?
My intent is to development small scale microgrid technologies to enable domestic production / consumption. This concept would use excess solar to produce hydrogen via electrolicis and store use in Feul cell vehicle Les and fuel cells to power domestic households in place of battery storage technology. I am looking for how to apply for a grant to development pilot technology and mentors to help in the process.
