The Privacy Act and your personal information
Our department is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in Schedule 1 of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). The Privacy Act regulates how we may collect, use, disclose and store personal information. We also hold personal information in accordance with the Archives Act 1983 (Cth).
Types of personal information collected
In this consultation we will collect personal information you provide including your name, organisation, email address, phone number, comments and opinions.
By including personal information in your response, you consent to the department collecting, using and disclosing that information in accordance with the Privacy Act and the APPs. If you need to include personal information about another individual in your response, you will need to inform that individual of the contents of this statement and obtain their consent to us collecting their personal information.
How collection occurs
We use technology by Converlens Pty Ltd to provide this consultation service and website. Converlens complies with the Privacy Act and stores data securely in Australia.
How we use your personal information
Your comments and opinions in response to the consultation topic will be used to inform and develop related policy initiatives and processes. We may use your details to contact you, if needed, to clarify any feedback and comments you provide. We may also use them to contact you about the outcomes of this consultation or similar topics.
We use secure and department approved artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support consultation workflows and the analysis of information provided in submissions. Our use of AI is consistent with the department’s Artificial intelligence transparency statement.
When we disclose your personal information
Personal information may be disclosed to relevant government agencies and ministers’ offices with an interest in the consultation topic. We will not use or disclose your personal information without your consent except where required or authorised by law.
