Privacy Collection Statement
The Department of Industry, Science and Resources, jointly with the Treasury, is seeking your views on the proposed Community Benefit Principles (CBP) framework. Your submission will help inform advice to the Australian Government on the final framework. As part of this process, the department is collecting personal information. Participation is voluntary.
What we collect
We may collect the following personal information in your submission:
your name, organisation, position, location and contact details
your views, opinions and supporting material you provide if you include personal information about another individual, you must ensure they are aware of this statement.
Why we collect this information
Your personal information will be used to:
analyse submissions
support policy development and potential regulatory amendments
inform advice to government
finalise the CBP framework
support implementation planning
contact you to clarify your submission or update you on consultation outcomes
facilitate future engagement on this matter or related initiatives.
How we share your information
Your information may be shared with:
The Treasury, as a joint lead agency
Australian Government agencies including central agencies
ministers and their offices
state and territory government agencies
external experts or non-government stakeholders engaged by the department
artificial intelligence (AI) based tools.
When your feedback includes cultural or sensitive information, additional care will be taken, and disclosures will be carefully managed in accordance with applicable privacy protections under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
We will not otherwise use or disclose your personal information unless you consent or we are required or authorised to do so by law.
Your submission may be processed using AI tools (such as Microsoft Copilot) to assist with analysing submissions. All outputs will always be reviewed by department staff and managed in line with Australian Government responsible AI guidance.
Publishing submissions
We may publish submissions on the department’s website. If you would like your submission to remain confidential, please indicate this when lodging your submission. Personal information (such as email addresses, phone numbers or signatures) will not be published.
How we protect your information
All personal information collected will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and stored and retained in accordance with the Archives Act 1983 (Cth).
Submissions made through this consultation are securely stored in cloud-based environments using technology provided by Converlens Pty Ltd, which manages the department’s Consultation Hub on its behalf. Contracted providers must handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and departmental security requirements.
