Privacy Collection Statement

The Department of Industry, Innovation and Science (the department) is collecting information through submission comments, opinions and responses to questions to inform the development of policy.

The department is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles outlined in Schedule 1 of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), which regulates how we may collect, use, disclose and store personal information. We respect your rights to privacy under the Privacy Act and we comply with all the Privacy Act’s requirements in respect of collection and management of your personal information.

Collection and Use of Personal information

Through your submission, the department will collect personal information from you including your name, email address and phone number. Your personal information may be disclosed to:

  • departmental personnel, subcontractors and advisors involved with policy development and implementation;
  • the responsible Minister and staff in the Minister’s Office;
  • Commonwealth, State and Territory agencies involved in the development of policy that will make available the Australian Made, Australian Grown logo to Complementary Medicines manufactured in Australia.

If your submission contains your contact details, you consent to the department publishing the submission with your contact details, unless you specify otherwise.

Personal information obtained will be stored and held in accordance with the department’s obligations under the Archives Act 1983 (Cth). Your personal information will not be used or disclosed without your consent, except as set out above or where authorised or required by law. Confidential information

The department may, at its discretion, publish submissions on its website. If your submission contains confidential information you must mark the submission as ‘Confidential’. The department will not publish submissions that are identified as ‘Confidential’. If your submission is confidential, but would like your submission published, you must provide us with a non-confidential version of the submission. The department will not accept any liability for the publication of confidential information, where you have failed to mark or identify information as confidential.

Confidential information will only be disclosed to:

  • departmental personnel, subcontractors and advisors involved with policy development and implementation;
  • where required by law;
  • the responsible Minister and staff in the Minister’s Office;
  • in response to a request by a House or a Committee of the Parliament of the Commonwealth of Australia;
  • with another Commonwealth, State and Territory agency, where this serves the Australian Government’s legitimate interests.

Submissions, comments, opinions and responses will not be published if the department considers that the submissions may contain potentially defamatory statements or other offensive comments
